Best Hotels in Juneau

With a better understanding of what matters most when traveling to Juneau, here’s a look at the best hotels in Juneau regardless of whether you’re traveling for business or leisure.

Juneau Hotel

juneau best hotel
The Juneau Hotel is an excellent choice for the business traveler.

Juneau Hotel is a 3-star accommodation, meaning it offers quality comfort in addition to the basics you would expect from a standard hotel. It’s located in the heart of downtown Juneau, which is ideal for seeing the city. You’re close to many great tourist attractions.

Enjoy the free breakfast complimentary airport shuttle service and gym. Plus, you’ll get high-speed Wi-Fi during your stay so that you can stay connected with loved ones or accomplish your work for the day.

Out of 194 reviewers, Juneau Hotel gets 4.3 stars on Google, Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity. Here’s what one reviewer had to say about her stay:

“On Saturdays, the community has street fairs and even free outdoor performances right next to the Hotel. It’s there for the taking but doesn’t interrupt if I have other work to do. There is a picnic area and a boardwalk/beach to explore. My unit is more like an apartment than a hotel. And we’re right next to the Humback Whale statue. What more could you ask for? Definitely one of the best hotels in Juneau.” – Donnel Thomson

And if you’re traveling with your family, the hotel gets 4.4 stars as a family-friendly hotel. Extended stay guests save big with specials starting at $55 per night.

Silverbow Inn

silverbow inn
The Silverbow Inn is located in the busy downtown area.

The Silverbow is an inn. It’s top-rated for its great breakfast, location, service and in-room bathroom amenities. Start your day at the European-style bakery and café. And in the evenings, take a stroll up to the rooftop garden for a beautiful view of the city.

With 87 reviews, the hotel gets 4.5 stars on Google, making it a popular option for Juneau hotels. Here’s what one reviewer had to say about their stay at the Silverbow:

“Staff was friendly and accommodating at all hours. Room was fairly small, but there were nooks and hooks and shelves for everything; clearly someone knew what guests needed to be comfortable (including earplugs for those bothered by sounds of the city). Bed was very comfortable, bathroom had tub and shower, all very clean. Hot tub on roof was nice but too hot even for us the night we tried it.” – Lee Cassenelli

The small rooms make it challenging for families to stay at the inn, but it’s a good option for couples or solo business travelers.

Best Western Grandma’s Feather Bed

grandmas feather bed
Grandma’s Feather Bed is not a good option for business, but leisure travelers may find it quite charming.

If you’re looking for a more country-style living option, the Best Western Grandma’s Feather Bed hotel is charming. You’ll get the security of a hotel with the charm of a Victorian Farmhouse.

Located close to the Juneau Airport, you’ll have a great view of the countryside, but you will be a taxi or rideshare away from downtown.

Some of the highest-rated aspects of the hotel are that it provides a restful night of sleep and excellent service. The free breakfast and airport shuttle help bring down the total price of staying at the hotel, which is quite pricey. It’s a small hotel with few rooms since it’s a converted farmhouse. You’ll pay for that exclusivity.

Because of its location, it isn’t as ideal for business travelers. But leisure visitors thoroughly enjoy their stay. Here’s what one Google reviewer had to say:

“Very cozy little place with a bed and breakfast feel. They promptly delivered breakfast to our room every morning at the time we requested. The food was hot and fresh. Room was a nice size, just a bit unusual that the tub opens right into the bedroom, but it didn’t matter to us. We would definitely stay there again.” – Steve Ritzel

Best Western Country Lane Inn

The Best Western is a decent option for budget travelers.

Juneau also has a more standard Best Western. It’s a 2-star hotel that has the basic amenities you would expect with a hotel stay, including Wi-Fi, breakfast and a shuttle to and from the airport.

If you’re looking for an affordable chain hotel, this is probably the best option. But if you compare its prices to some of the local hotels, you can get more for your money by avoiding the chain.

With 341 reviews, the Best Western Country Lane Inn gets 4.4 stars. Take a look at what one Google reviewer thought of their stay:

“The room was clean and comfortable. The decor fit the theme of the hotel. The front desk staff were very helpful and efficient. I put in a request for a ground floor room and they happily accommodated me. I would recommend this hotel to others who come to Juneau.” – Gaye Willis

Aspen Suites Hotel Juneau

aspen suites hotel
Aspen Suites Hotel is an okay option near the airport. But it lacks breakfast, and is rather expensive for the amenities they provide.

Aspen Suites features excellent rooms with full kitchens. The hotel also has a neat fitness center and a coffee bar where you can go to relax.

Compared to other hotels in the area, Aspen Suites has a more modern vibe to it than its competitors who have chosen to keep the small-town charm. Located near the airport, you’ll have easy transportation to and from the hotel. However, you’ll need to drive to get to downtown and many of the area’s tourist attractions.

The 3-star hotel has decent rooms according to reviewers. The hotel gets good ratings for families, which is no big surprise since it features a full kitchen and plenty of space for everyone.

Learn what one Google reviewer had to say:

“We walked from the airport. Easy to find and easy wall. About a 10-minute walk. Very clean room and wonderful amenities! The only bummer was no breakfast but there was coffee and vending machines so we made it work! Very pleased with our room and very comfortable beds!” – Kristen Mitchell

Travelodge by Wyndham Juneau

travelodge by wyndham juneau ak
The Travelodge is a very basic hotel option for travelers.

Travelodge is another 2-star hotel option that provides the necessary basics, but not much else. It’s one of few hotels in the area with an indoor pool.

Enjoy the on-site Mexican restaurant or bar to unwind from the day. You’ll get access to Wi-Fi as well as a fitness center. Reviewers appreciate the friendly service and airport shuttle.

This hotel is another example of a chain that offers fewer amenities than the local hotels but at the same price. So unless you’re looking to use hotel reward points or accumulate them from business travel, you’ll be better served elsewhere.

With 209 reviews, the hotel gets 4 stars on Google. Customers do not rate it very well for families – it gets 3.2 out of 5 stars in that category. Thanks to meeting rooms, the hotel is more ideal for business travelers than leisure travelers.

“We came for business and held an employee training in one of the conference rooms for rent. The staff set it all up and made sure we had everything we needed. Even with technical difficulty of using their projector, the staff assisted every step. Our room was very large and extremely clean. Staff were all very professional. When we asked for extra towels or supplies, they got it for us right away. We had interactions with the office staff, housekeeping and the front desk and everyone was helpful and kind. We will definitely stay each time we come to town.” – Sabrina Cardinal

The Frontier Suites – One of the Lodging Options in Juneau

The Frontier Suites is located close to the airport, but and provides excellent options for business. Learn more here.

One of the most affordable extended stay options for long-term business travelers, Frontier Suites offers the comfort of home near the airport. You’ll get access to an exercise room. And if you want to bring along your pet, the hotel is quite pet-friendly.

Reviewers enjoy the great service the hotel provides. The attached restaurant offers unique fusion cuisine to enjoy after a long day.

With 212 reviews on Google, Frontier Suites gets 4.1 stars. Here’s a look at why it gets such great ratings:

“The Frontier Suites was a great value! Essentially a one-bedroom apartment fully appointed and near the airport. With a free shuttle there. The suite was quiet, too. The jacuzzi tub was a real treat after being outside and active on our 9-day Ferry trip.” – Nathan Caldwell

One aspect that reviewers highlight is how family-friendly the hotel is, giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars for families.

The Alaskan Hotel & Bar

The Alaskan Hotel & Bar
The Alaskan is an historic hotel, and there are rumors around town that it is haunted.

Take a step back in time at the Alaskan Hotel and Bar. This hotel features small rooms but a quaint feel dating back to 1913 when the hotel was founded. It features a central location downtown. The Alaskan Hotel & Bar is the only 1-star hotel that makes this list.

Some rooms have shared bathrooms, which decreases your privacy when staying at the hotel. One thing people enjoy is the attached bar where you can go at the end of the day to unwind.

It only gets 3.8 stars out of 239 reviews on Google. The largest reason for the lower rating is the rooms. You must be comfortable with the old-timey feel and want to take a step back in time to appreciate this unique hotel. This is what one reviewer had to say:

“We booked this motel in downtown to try to capture the true heritage of Alaska. The hotel is old and has its quirks. This only added to the experience. I loved the old time feel to the place. The bar had a good feel, and the staff was all nice and friendly. If you are looking for the newest or nicest place in town look elsewhere. If you want a taste of the past this is the place. I loved it. The only downside was the locked front entrance when the office or bar is closed.” – Timothy Howard

The good news is, the rates reflect the accommodations and are quite affordable.
